RAK's tourism revenue hits USD272m in 2014

(MENAFN) Tourism revenue in Ras Al Khaimah posted more than USD272 million in 2014 and the number of guest nights increased by 72 percent over 2013, the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAK TDA) said, Gulf News reported.

While guest nights in the emirate reached 2.14 million in 2014, RAK TDA did not provide the number of hotel guests last year.

A number of hotels opened in Ras Al Khaimah in the previous year, including the 655-room Rixos Bab Al Bahr Resort, the 315-room Marjan Island Resort & Spa and the 484-room Double Tree by Hilton Resort & Spa, Marjan Island.

"Our guest night growth in particular was especially strong and even exceeded our ambitious forecast at the start of 2014, and Ras Al Khaimah is now proving to be a hit with both domestic holiday makers as well as the wider international community," chief executive of RAK TDA, said in a statement.
