Private security guards employed at sensitive places such as Automated Teller Machine or factories should exhibit a sense of discipline particularly while handling explosives, said speakers at a function held here to mark the valediction of the 20-day training on “private security services” organised jointly by the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation and police department here on Saturday.
They said the security guards should be fully prepared to tackle any emergency situation.
S.M. Ilango, Additional Superintendent of Police, said the training aimed at enhancing the employability skills of candidates and forming a bridge between the employers and the unemployed persons. He specifically underlined the role of security guards and their limitations.
N. Kayalvizhi, Inspector of Police, resource person for the training, appealed to the trainees to be fully aware of the provisions of the Arms Act and develop observation skills. The training, she hoped, would generate employment opportunities at apartments, private factories, and bank’s ATM units.
Francis Xavier, Principal of Industrial Training Institute, who is the nodal officer for the programme, said there was overwhelming response to the training from the unemployed youth across the district.
