A 16-year-old girl was found murdered in Kotwali area of Gonda district on Friday afternoon.
The girl’s body was discovered half-an-hour after she reportedly left home to attend nature’s call. Postmortem has been conducted and its report stated that death occured due to strangulation. While no injury was found on any part of the body, slide has been sent for forensic test to confirm sexual assault.
Meanwhile, the police are also looking into the possibility of honour killing, as the family members did not inform the police about the girl’s murder. Superintendent of Police, Gonda, Rajesh Kumar Pandey said, on a complaint of the victim’s father, an FIR was later lodged against unidentified person on charges of murder, rape and POCSO Act.
Station House Officer, Kotwali police Station, Shiv Pati Singh said the family told them that on Friday afternoon the victim, a class X student, left home for nature’s call, but did not return. Looking for the girl, her aunt went to the field and found her lying unconscious. She informed other family members who rushed her to the community health centre, where doctors declared her brought dead. Meanwhile, someone from the village called the PCR to inform about the incident. The police then rushed to the girl’s house and took the body in custody.
