Gujarat man who ‘wanted son’ kills three daughters

When Dubey returned home late at night, there was no sign of the girls. When his wife inquired about the children, he failed to give a satisfactory answer. She called up his younger brother Dhananjay and asked for help. The family members searched the whole night, but failed to locate the girls. Meanwhile, Dubey also went missing from the house.

On Saturday morning, Sanker Patel, Sarpanch of Mangrol village in Jalalpore taluka of Navsari, was on his way to his agricultural field, when he spotted three bodies floating in a 30-foot broad and 10-foot deep canal. He immediately informed the police. Jalalpore police, along with forensic officials, rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies and started the process to identify the girls.

Meanwhile, Dhananjay found Dubey sleeping on the roadside and his bike lying nearby on Saturday morning. He took him to Sachin police station. When police questioned him, Dubey broke down and confessed to having killed his daughters.

Sachin police informed Navsari police about Dubey’s involvement in the killings. Police inspector Mahendra Kher reached Surat and arrested him and took him to the Jalalpore police station. The bodies of the girls were handed over to the family members after post-mortem, later in the evening.

Navsari police inspector Mahendra Kher said, “During interrogation, Dubey had confessed to having killed his three daughters by strangulation. He later pushed their bodies into the canal. Sanjay also had told us that he was under mental stress as he had no male child. His work was not going well and he also had taken loan of Rs 3 lakh from friends, and was not in a position to repay it. We suspect that he was depressed. He also had confessed that after killing his daugthers, he wanted to commit suicide, but his courage failed him and he returned home.”
