Riding on Delhi win, AAP promises ‘equal fight’ in Bengal

“Like any other political party in Bengal, we will give an equal fight in the assembly elections in 2016. We are preparing for that. We would again start our membership drive here. And we will regularly organise political programmes in the state,” said Imran Khan, an AAP volunteer. The party claimed that they have already registered three lakh members in the state. The rally was led by three senior volunteers of the party including Alok Chaturvedi (AAP candidate in north Kolkata), Suraj Narayan Singh (Howrah) and Imran Khan.

The rally started from College Square and ended at Esplanade area. The party claimed that during 2016 state elections, candidates would be fielded from all the assembly constituencies. For this, the membership drive would be started soon.

Significantly, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was “very happy” after AAP achieved a thumping victory in Delhi assembly polls. Banerjee called Arvind Kejriwal to congratulate him and later tweeted expressing her wishes to the AAP.

Party sources in the state claimed that TMC leaders in Delhi have been trying hard to ally with the AAP for quite some time now.
