19 killed, 45 injured by Taliban-based militants at a Shia mosque in Peshawar

At least 19 people were killed and 45 others were wounded after heavily armed militants stormed a Shia mosque in Hayatabad in Peshawar on February 13.

As per the reports, the attack was carried out by Taliban-based militants using guns and grenades, as a revenge for the execution of one of their cadres.

While police killed one of the militants in a gunfight around the mosque, another of the militants blew himself up with a suicide vest and a third was arrested.

The attack has come a little more than two weeks after a case of suicide bombing at a Shiite mosque in Shikarpur of Pakistan during a Friday prayer.

At least 55 people were killed and 59 others were wounded in an alleged case of suicide bombing in southern Pakistan on January 30, 2015.
