Salote Emulates Mother
In 1974, Selaima Veisamasama (then Selaima Kalouniviti), was badged headgirl of Adi Cakobau School in Sawani, Naitasiri.
Forty-one years on and she got to witness her daughter, Salote Veisamasama, also taking up the important role.
Salote, the daughter of Fiji Boxing Commission director Malakai Veisamasama, was among the 74 prefects and house captains that were inducted at the school yesterday.
Mrs Veisamasama said she was proud of her daughter.
“No disrespect to her, I didn’t think that anyone of my children would want to come to this school or to even assume that role. I was quite excited when she chose to attend the school and even more excited when they chose her to be the headgirl,” Mrs Veisamasama said.
Meanwhile, the 17-year-old headgirl said she was honoured and humbled to be trusted with the responsibility.
