Hepatology conference in Manipal on Sunday

The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, will conduct a one-day conference on ‘Update in Hepatology’ here on February 15.

A release on Friday said the conference would provide an opportunity for gastroenterologists, hepatologists and internal medicine specialists of the State to exchange ideas, discuss innovative methods and review new developments in the field.

The topics for the conference had been carefully selected to address the recent trends and relevant topics in hepatology including areas such as liver transplantation and the treatment of Hepatitis B virus and Hepatitis C infections. The delegates would focus on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the digestive tract and liver.

About 200 delegates are expected to participate in this State-level conference. Ganesh Pai, Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at Kasturba Hospital said the eight resource persons chosen for the conference were experts in the field of hepatology.

The programme would include interactive panel discussions, case presentations and didactic lectures. The Karnataka Medical Council has granted two credit hours for this conference and it is also endorsed by the Indian National Association for the Study of Liver, the release added.
