Several poets and writers are excited to participate in the ‘Katha Nilayam’ foundation day celebrations on Saturday as it would provide an opportunity for them to share their ideas and discuss about the future of the Telugu literature in the backdrop of drop in reading habits among the youngsters.
Many of them felt completion of digitalisation of short stories and access through Internet would certainly enhance the reading habits and protect the literature.
Digitalisation process
The digitalisation process has been going in ‘Katha Nilayam’ for the last few days with the initiative of famous writer Kalipatnam Rama Rao who established the institution in 1997. The readers, who missed famous stories, can happily read them on the Internet as the digitalisation is expected to be completed in a couple of years.
Several poets and writers will share their ideas over the digitalisation process during the two-day foundation day celebrations.
According to Mr. Rama Rao, the institution preserves more than 12,000 books. Many books which were published in 1900-1910 could also be found in Katha Nilayam. As many as 20,000 old newspapers and photos of famous writers are also kept in Katha Nilayam.
Telugu Academy published ‘Katha Kosam’ in 2005, providing the details of 2,110 writers with the support of Katha Nilayam.
