Bring Jammu on Tourism map of India: JDC

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 13: A meeting of Jammu Development Council (JDC), Jammu province, was held under the chairmanship of its president, Krishen Lal Abrol, wherein the participants raised the demand of making Jammu a tourist hub and bringing it on Tourism map of India.
Addressing the meeting, Abrol said that Jammu is deprived of tourism development facilities for last 67 years, as a result of which the unemployment is increasing and poverty is deepening day-by-day.
He said now when the PDP and BJP are all set to form Coalition Government in the State, a ray of hope has arisen in the minds of Jammuites, as PDP patron, Mufti Mohd Sayeed has recently said in a meeting that Jammu will not meet the fate like that of Pathankot in Punjab and it will be soon developed in terms of tourism.
He said about 12 years have passed, but there is no progress in tourism projects in Jammu whether it is Mubarak Mandi development project, Bahu Fort development project, Artificial Lake project and developing Kandoli  temple at Nagrota, which is a first step of Darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi.
Abrol said making Jammu a tourist hub will pave way for development of Jammu and also provide employment to unemployed youth. Besides business community of Jammu city particularly of old city which has been suffering badly since shifting of High Court and lower courts to Janipur, will get a sigh of relief.
He said all hopes are now pinned in PDP-BJP Coalition Government, which is yet to be formed.
Chairman, JDC, Krishen Lal Saraf, Kuldeep Anand, Ashok Kumar Nischal, Rajan Sharma, Balvinder Singh Bhatia, Subhash Abrol and other office bearers were also present.
