Geraldo Rivera Doesn't Think Obama's Buzzfeed Video Was So Bad

The hosts of "Fox & Friends" weren't thrilled when they discovered that Barack Obama had filmed a cutesy Buzzfeed video advertising the upcoming Affordable Care Act deadline, and it was released on the same day he announced the death of Islamic State hostage Kayla Mueller.

Elizabeth Hasselback called Obama's behavior a "chronic issue," pointing to his August 2014 decision to go golfing after speaking about the beheading of journalist James Foley.

But Geraldo Rivera wasn't quite as appalled, noting that the video promotes signing up for health insurance -- and failure to do so can result in a $400 penalty.

“The timing is horrible, Elizabeth, there's no doubt about it,” Rivera said. “But I notice that he did get almost six million hits on the video. He’s appealing to a young crowd that doesn’t consume traditional media. … If he can really reach out and make more effective some of these government programs, whatever you think of them, then I don't have a serious objection."

"I’m Republican but a fair man," Geraldo shortly added, "and if he can reach the young audience with this stuff to do the right thing then I’m okay with that.”
