Odisha: 4 hardcore Maoists surrender in Malkangiri
Malkangiri, Feb 13: Four hardcore Maoists including three women, who were allegedly involved in many offences and carried rewards on their heads, surrendered before the police in Odisha's Malkangiri district on Friday.
Jethwa said of the four Maoists who surrendered, two were of the rank of assistant commandant while the other two belonged to the arms cadre in the banned outfit. The ultras were involved in several incidents of violence including murder and landmine explosions, he said.
The two assistant commandant cadres are Manglu Padiami of Kalimela Committee under Malkangiri Division and lady Maoist, Rami Madhi alias Anita, member of First Central Regional Committee under Malkangiri Division, police said.
Both carried a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh each, Jethwa said. The other two women armed cadres were identified as Ganji alias Sangita and Kunjam Raje alias Gita, who were carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh each, Jethwa added.
Surrender of the four hardcore Naxals who were active for last several years has come as a major blow to the red rebels in the region, Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said.
