Double Cross Is A Step Ahead

“A good film is worth the price of the dinner, the theatre admission and the babysitter were worth it” as said by Alfred Hitchcock is a clear replication of the blockbuster movie Double Cross.

Sitting in the chilly rooms of the Silverbird cinema met the complicated plot which talks about love and crime. The story unfolds as Effie (Ama K. Abebrese) plays the investigative role of fishing out the robber of a bank in which her fiancé is unjustifiably serving jail term for. After gathering enough evidence on the real culprit (Danny) she threatens him to use same method to rob same bank. Out of greed Effie compels Danny (John Dumelo) to rob her work place of some jewelleries in which the police arrives at the scene and Danny escapes by help of his mum. Effie is left a worried fellow since she's ignored by Ben (Adjetey Anang) her prisoned fiancé and loses Danny's company as well.

I must admit; it is one of the many movies to take Ghana to the world. It got five nominations at the Ghana Movie Awards 2014 of which it won two. It had Ama k. Abebrese nominated for Actress in a Leading Role, Pascal Aka nominated for Best Director and Editing, Best Picture and won the Best Cinematography and and Make-up/Hair & Styling respectively. It also got international recognition after standing the test of London critics.

It is a movie I would love to watch again and again. It wholly caught my attention with its play of words which is merely harsh but comical. It has wonderful settings, nice costumes, good sound & picture & story and an equitably dispersed lighting to match it up.

Celebrities that were present for the red carpet included; Adjetey Anang, Sandra Ankobia, Paulina Oduro, Emmanuel Armah, Nicky Somanas, Kalybos and a host of others.
