The KPHB police claimed to have solved the mystery behind the murder of a transgender reported at Kukatpally with the arrest of three persons on Thursday.

The victim, Kummari Suresh alias Pravalika (25) of Yellammabanda, was found dead on January 16 at JNNURM Colony.

The accused, Kurma Venkateshulu alias Venkat alias Chinna of Banjara Hills, Rayapati Rajashekhar Reddy of Indira Nagar and Kakarla Tirumaleshwar Reddy, a car driver from Ananthapur in Andhra Pradesh along with Ramudu, who is absconding, allegedly attacked Pravalika with stones and boulders resulting in death. Venkateshulu and his friend used to extort money from transgenders. On the fateful day, he along with three of his friends picked up Pravalika from Bhagyanagar Colony and took the victim towards JNNURM buildings. After reaching the place, Venkateshulu demanded money from Pravalika. However, the latter refused to give him money and also threatened to expose him to the police. “Venkateshulu killed Pravalika in a fit of rage by hitting her on the head with a stone when his friends kept a watch,” Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kukatpally, N. Sanjeeva Rao said. Later, they collected Rs. 1,600 from the purse and fled the place.
