Srikrishna Devaraya Mahotsav gets under way

Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad said that the State government was chalking out plans to give a fillip to Srikakulam village in Krishna district on historical front.

He was present at the two-day Srikrishna Devaraya Mahotsav-2015, which got off on Wednesday. Remembering the glorious past of the Srikakulandra Mahavishnu temple here, Mr. Buddha Prasad added that K.C.P. Sugars Pvt. Ltd. authorities adopted the village in response to a call by the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. “The officials concerned should prepare master plan to bring a new shape to the village with emphasis on the history of the village apart from tourism infrastructure facilities,” said Mr. Buddha Prasad. According to Andhra history, “Vijayanagara king Srikrishna Devaraya has visited Srikakulandra Mahavishnu temple on February 11 in 1518 and spent a day and started writing ‘Amuktamalyada’ in Telugu language.
