ANKARA

Chelsea edged past Everton 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in London in their English Premier League match on Wednesday night.

The Blues' Brazilian winger Willian found the back of the net in the 89th minute.

Everton midfielder Gareth Barry was sent off near the end of the game. League leaders Chelsea have now accumulated 59 points, securing a seven-point gap at the top of the league.

Chelsea's closest opponents in the table, Manchester City, did not let the league leaders increase their margin as they cruised past Stoke City 4-1 in an away match on Wednesday. 

Manchester City's Argentine star Sergio Aguero scored twice. Other scorers for Manchester City were English winger James Milner and French midfielder Samir Nasri. English striker Peter Crouch found the net for Stoke City.

Manchester United won against Burnley 3-1 at their home ground, Old Trafford. United's English center-back Chris Smalling scored twice and their Dutch striker Robin van Persie scored from the penalty spot near the end of the match.

Manchester United are currently third in the standings with 47 points.

London side Arsenal narrowly defeated Leicester City 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday. Goals by French defender Laurent Koscielny and English wing forward Theo Walcott secured the win for The Gunners.

With 45 points, Arsenal are currently fifth place in the English Premier League standings.
