GURGAON: Faridabad saw maximum number of power theft in 2014-15, followed by Palwal and Gurgaon, a Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) report has revealed.
While Faridabad recorded a theft of 35.6% of electricity supplied to them last year, Palwal and Gurgaon reported 15% and 13.4% power theft respectively. The report prepared for the nine DHBVN operation circles said.
Officials said that 25,563 connections were inspected for theft in Rewari circle and only 225 consumers were caught stealing electricity.

In Faridabad, 1,313 were found stealing power out of 3,686 consumers who were inspected, whereas in Gurgaon, 2,441 connections were inspected and 328 repoted theft.
The discom has fined several consumers, who were caught stealing power and has also registered FIRs against all operation circles.
Sanjeev Chopra, DHBVN general manager (Gurgaon circle) said, "These figures are lower than what they were in the past few years and there is a declining trend. We are trying to bring down transmission losses from power thefts in Gurgaon below a 10 % level."
