JAMMU, Feb 9: A meeting of Aarakshan Virodhi Manch Jammu (AVMJ) was held under the chairmanship of its president, Ram Pal Seth, wherein all the participants demanded Government of India to abolish caste based reservation alleging that it has been creating, ill-will, inequality, injustice and separation between human beings.
Addressing the meeting, Seth strongly condemned reservation in the name of caste and religion. He said that it is the most basic denial of the principles of equality, justice, liberty and democracy. It is a violation of Article 14 of constitution and UNO charter.
Seth said that AVMJ demanded withdrawal of all the concessions and privileges given on the basis of caste and religion as these concessions and privileges had given birth to political corruption, inequality, injustice, discrimination and wastage of Public money.
He appealed the Government of India to do away with all the discriminatory and divisive policies of previous Government and work for the abolition of all sorts of reservation. Meanwhile, a resolution was passed by the association with one voice demanding special support measures (SSM) for the poor, needy and deserving people of all castes and religions.
