chief justice L Narasimha Reddy and
Justice Vikas Jain on Monday directed the
Bihar DGP to remove
Bhojpur SP immediately.
Taking suo motu action on the news published in a section of press that Bhojpur SP had installed metal detector in Ara civil court without holding consultation with the district judge, the court asked the state government to ask the Bhojpur SP to be present in person on February 12, 2015, before the court as his action amounted to contempt of court.The metal detector was installed in the wake of a bomb explosion near the lock-up on Ara civil court premises on January 24, 2015, in which a young cop, Amit, and a woman, who was carrying the bomb, were killed.
The explosion created panic and in the melee two prisoners including a hardcore criminal, who had been brought for production before the court, managed to escape. About 17 people were injured in the explosion. Two prisoners –
Lambu Sharma and Akhilesh Upadhyaya – caped. Sharma was convicted for life.
