Married woman ‘gangraped’ inside UP bus, says was driven to a lonely spot

The accused told her that she would be killed if she protested.

A woman, who was travelling to Delhi from Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly gangraped in the early hours of Sunday morning, police said.

Police sources said the woman had boarded the Uttar Pradesh state roadways bus at Bhivani Mod in Kannauj and was on her way to Dadri in Greater Noida. The woman, who is married, fell asleep on the bus and missed her stop at Dadri.

Police said after the bus arrived at Anand Vihar bus terminal in East Delhi, the bus conductor and driver waited for every passenger to get off. “After seeing the woman asleep, they drove away from Anand Vihar. It’s not clear when she finally woke up, but the two told her that they would drop her at Dadri,” a senior police officer said.

According to the woman’s complaint, which has been lodged at the Dadri police station, she was driven to a lonely spot in Noida, where she was gangraped. Police said when the woman tried to scream, the accused told her that she would be killed if she protested. The accused dropped her near Dadri, police said.
