Child protection officer assaulted

HYDERABAD: Locals at Singareni Colony in Saidabad reportedly assaulted a child protection officer when he went there to prevent a child marriage on Sunday. Mohammed Imtiaz Raheem went to Singareni Colony on Sunday evening when he came to know that a 17-year-old girl was being married off.
“In the morning, I convinced the family not to conduct the marriage.In the evening, I went there to finish the paper work and found that the marriage was taking place. When I tried to click a photo, some women and men assaulted me and snatched away my phone and bike,” Imtiaz said.
