It is a known fact that Sarika’s dad had left her during her childhood. She was raised by her mother and had to work as a child artiste to earn her livelihood.
At the screening of her younger daughter Akshara Haasan’s latest film, one spotted a meek man in white clothes, with a silver mop of hair and beard, sitting inconspicuously.

It was only when the teenaged actress brought the Hindi cinema icon Amitabh Bachchan to greet the gentleman, did one realise that the man in question was an important member of their family.
Since Akshara was referring to the elderly gentleman as ‘Nana’, it is safe to assume that he was her maternal grandfather.
In the interval, Sarika addressed him as ‘Baba’ and was overheard asking him whether she could get him a cup of coffee. It was indeed touching to see this. All of us, who have known Sarika from her younger days, hadn’t got an opportunity to get acquainted with her dad.
