Raja Rajendra Movie Review

Critic's Rating: 3.0/5
It’s a little difficult to identify the film as Sharan’s because the punch we’ve seen in his other movies seems to be missing. It appears to be more of a masala flick with doses of comedy randomly thrown in. The climax, loaded with too many dramatic sequences, is funny in bits but Sharan’s comedy is lost in the chaos.

The story revolves around Bottle Mani (Sharan), a lame duck, who takes a supari to kill Neelakanta Raju (Ramakrishna), an elderly person from a royal family. He’s been assigned the job by none other than the old man’s three sons-in-law, who want to grab his property. Mani is assisted by his uncle (Tabla Nani) but he faces a lot of problems in the palace as the family is huge. He misses a couple of chances to kill Raju. There’s a twist in the tale when the real Bottle Mani (Ravishankar) walks out of jail only to find that a fraud has usurped his identity and entered the palace. Henceforth, it’s only chaos that reigns supreme.

Sharan has done his best to breathe life into the character. Ishika Datta is impressive as his lover. Ramakrishna, Ravishankar and Sadhu Kokila deserve accolades for doing justice to their roles. Paneer Selvan’s cinematography is brilliant and music by Arjun Janya is okay.
