Former Union Minister of State for PMO V. Narayanasamy on Monday termed Jayanthi Natarajan’s allegations against AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi as untenable and unjustified.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Narayanasamy said that tribals in Niyamgiri in Odisha had registered their strong protest against a mining project.

As a Member of Parliament Mr. Gandhi could have made a representation to Jayanthi Natarajan during her tenure as Environment Minister about the concerns and grievances of the tribals in the backdrop of mining project in Niyamgiri. It would be wrong to say that Mr. Gandhi had interfered in the works of her Ministry.

When his attention was drawn to the fact that the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, had asked Jayanthi Natarajan, to resign, Mr. Narayanasamy said that it was the prerogative of the Prime Minister to retain or remove any of the Ministers.

Ms. Natarajan has taken a decision to quit the party and making allegations against the party is not justified, he said.
