Shikhar case probe transferred to CB-CID

The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred the investigation of the Barabanki engineer’s murder case to the CB-CID. Bahujan Samaj Party’s Basgaon MLA Vijay Kumar is the prime accused in the case. Engineer Shikhar Srivastava, a 27 year old engineer of the UP National Informatics Centre (UPNIC), was killed in Barabanki.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred the investigation of the Barabanki engineer’s murder case to the CB-CID. Bahujan Samaj Party’s Basgaon MLA Vijay Kumar is the prime accused in the case. Engineer Shikhar Srivastava, a 27 year old engineer of the UP National Informatics Centre (UPNIC), was killed in Barabanki.
According to home department officials, the decision was taken on the basis of a report sent by Barabanki police chief.
The police have been hunting for the MLA and his wife ever since they were named accused in the case. But the two have been elusive so far and declared absconders. Now, as the case has been transferred to the CB-CID, the two can’t be arrest till the probe is over.
Barabanki SP had earlier confirmed that Vijay and his wife were named as accused in the case. "The couple has been charged under 120 (B) and 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” he told TOI. The victim's widow had alleged that the MLA's wife Mridula Anand had taken Rs 3.5 lakh from Shikhar - a resident of Bahraich - promising him a better job in the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Department (UPSED).
