PATNA: A single bench of Justice Mihir Kumar Jha on Wednesday said appointment of junior engineers in water resources department must be made within a time frame. The court was hearing a writ petition filed by a section of the aspirants to the posts. The court asked the IG (economic offences) and director (forensic science laboratory) to appear in the court on February 12, 2015.

The writ petition alleged the OMR sheet had been manipulated by department officials to favour a few on monetary considerations. The department had constituted a committee to look into the allegation, but the committee is yet to complete its investigation, delaying the appointments.
PIL dismissed: A division bench of chief justice L Narasimha Reddy and Justice Vikas Jain on Wednesday dismissed a PIL, observing the state government has powers to review its policy. The PIL stated 18 town planning development integrated schemes under Phulwari assembly segment had not been fully executed and some of these schemes had been changed.
Writ petition on AOR exam: A writ petition was filed before a division bench of Chief justice L Narasimha Reddy and Justice Vikas Jain, pleading against any examination to appoint advocates on record (AOR) in the Patna high court. The petition pleaded the Advocate Act and Bar Council of India empowers advocates to practice in any court after enrolment as an advocate and, therefore, there was no need of examination. The matter will again be heard on February 21.
