AOC’s  2460PG 24 inch gaming monitor has a lot going for it in terms of performance.

It has a 144Hz refresh rate, is G-synch capable and comes with built in motion blur reduction.

It is fast, the colour crisp and the screen’s design reduces glare extremely nicely.

The 1920x1080 resolution is okay.

Initial installation is easy – it doesn’t require anything special in the way of software and works pretty much instantly.

The stand is similar to the one on the Phillips 272P4 27 inch monitor, except it is built into the back.

It does allow you to rotate the monitor 90 degrees if you want, and it was possible to raise it just enough to clear my cat’s head whenever it figured it was time to flop in front of my keyboard and purr.

That is maybe a rather individual concern.

The monitor itself has a decent build quality, and a professional look. It is more solid than pretty.

One issue I found was that it relies on an HDMI cable to connect to your computer, without an option for a traditional screen cable.

It is not a big issue for desktops, but if you are looking for something to supplement your laptop screen, check that the laptop has the right port.

The thing is R9,895 is a lot of money for a 24 inch screen with a 1920X1080 resolution – even a very nice one like this.

What you are basically paying for is the motion blur reduction and the  G-Synch compatibility.

If those aren’t that big an issue to you, you can cut off a lot of the price by going with the PQU version.
