New Delhi:

After Raanjhanaa, Tamil superstar Dhanush waited for about eight months and went through some 33 scripts before he signed up for R Balki's Shamitabh, which he feels is the toughest role in his career.

"A lot of scripts came my way after Raanjhanaa. I think I read about 33 scripts but there was nothing solid to back up my first Hindi film. I kept waiting for about eight months when R Balki called. He is like 'if you are free for a couple of hours do drop in'. After a two-hour narration I knew I was doing it," Dhanush told PTI in an interview. Dhanush is sharing the screen space with megastar Amitabh Bachchan and newcomer Akshara Haasan in the film, which is slated to release on February 6.

When asked about his biggest challenge while facing the camera for Shamitabh, Dhanush said he just wanted to be able to do justice to Mr Bachchan's voice.

"It was a great opportunity to learn from the best and I tried to absorb as much as possible. I was nervous only because handling the majestic voice of Amitji is not easy. I was worried whether I will be able to carry his majestic voice in my small frame," Dhanush said. (Also Read: In Shamitabh, Dhanush Speaks, It's Amitabh Bachchan You Hear)
