BAHAWALPUR: A robbery suspect was killed in a shootout on Monday allegedly by a bullet fired by one of his accomplices.

Naushera Jadeed police stated that the deceased, Ghulam Hussain, was also wanted in 16 cases involving murders and kidnappings for ransom.

Complainant Muhammad Akbar stated that Hussain and his two accomplices were fleeing after stealing a motorcycle, Rs18,000  in cash and his national identity card from his cattle farm when he spotted them and raised an alarm. A gun battle ensued between the suspects and some villagers who gathered on the spot resulting in Hussain’s death allegedly from a bullet fired by one of his accomplices.

His body was later sent to a rural health centre for a post mortem examination.
