Petitioner says Gopala Gopala is anti-Hindu
Hyderabad: A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday permitted a petitioner to file a fresh petition seeking ban on screening of Venkatesh and Pavan Kalyan starrer movie Gopala Gopala.
C. Raghunatha Rao, a resident of the city on Wednesday moved the Hyderabad High Court seeking a direction to the makers of the movie to withdraw the film from the theatres until re-certification of the film by the Central Board of Film Certification.
The petitioner submitted that the movie is hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus and the religion as it portrays Hindu spiritual gurus in poor light degrading them even denigrating women. The bench pointed out that without making the producer and director of the film as a party to the case, it cannot grant any order. Then the petitioner urged the court permit him to withdraw the plea and file a fresh petition.
TJAC lawyers ask CJ for new HC:
Telangana Advocates Joint Action Committee (TAJAC) on Monday requested Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta of the Hyderabad HC to initiate steps for bifurcation of the existing HC and to establish separate HC for Andhra Pradesh.
A delegation of the TAJAC comprising senior counsel S. Satyam Reddy, TAJAC convenor M. Rajender Reddy and AP Bar Council members K. Laxman Kumar and M. Sahodar Reddy submitted a representation to the Chief Justice in this regard.
APSHEC fights bank account freeze:
The AP State Higher Education Council on Monday moved the Hyderabad HC challenging the action of the Telangana state government in asking the various banks including State Bank of India, State Bank of Hyderabad and Andhra Bank to freeze accounts of the AP Higher Education Council.
It was brought to the notice of the court that the council has received a letters from State Bank of Hyderabad Shanthi Nagar Branch informing it that its bank account has been freeze following a directive from the Telangana government.
