MU to extend last date for exam form submission for Tasgaonkar students

The Yadavrao Tasgaonkar group of institutes in Karjat missed the deadline set by Mumbai University to start classes on January 31. The college office also remained shut on the last date for submission of forms for the final semester examinations. Frustrated with the situation, about 400 students approached the University administration on Monday.

After hearing them out, university authorities assured students that the submission date will be extended. Stating that the college has not started classes as per the University's directions, M A Khan, University registrar said, “About 400 students had approached us since many were not able to submit their forms. We will extend the submission for them as an exception." He added that the university-appointed committee is yet to visit the college to conduct the inquiry ordered into the matter. Khan also said the board of studies will decide on further course of action and the university may send an administrator to take charge of the institute if the classes don't resume soon.

Senate member Sudhakar Tamboli, who accompanied the students on Monday, said, “The University will send the management another notice on Tuesday following which they have promised to consider legal action.” Meanwhile, Rajesh Tasgaonkar, a trustee, said the college was unable to pay salaries since it was waiting for a payment of Rs 18.5 crore from the state.
