Mainstream actors in Malayalam are increasingly taking up short films these days. Recently, actor Suresh Gopi was roped in to play himself in a short film that talks about the ill-effects of smoking in public spaces. Now, we hear that
actress Bhavana too will be seen in an untitled short film helmed by actor Vishnu Raghav. “There are three small stories in this short film.
The first story will see actors Bhavana, Dinesh Panicker, Bindu Panicker and Saikumar in prominent roles,” says Vishnu. It is apparently a satire which throws light on the social restrictions in our lives. “Bhavana liked the story and was very cooperative. She plays the protagonist in the first story as the subject revolves around her pennu kaanal (meeting of the prospective bride and groom),” he says. Actor Anu Mohan, we hear, helped Vishnu in the scripting of the short film. The second story will see the scriptwriter himself playing a prominent role, and the third will have dance reality show contestant Ajaz playing the lead.
Meanwhile, Vishnu, who has been a part of some good projects in Mollywood, including T
heevram, is waiting for his next release, Sarathi. “Before directing a feature film, I wanted to direct a short film with a message. Though I like acting, my soul lies in direction,” says Vishnu.
