MANGALURU: The Heggade couple — Veerendra and Hemavathi will offer 'Padabhisheka' to the monolith of Lord Bahubali at Ratnagiri in Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala near here on Tuesday. Various rituals in this connection including thorana muhurtha, vimana shuddi, nandimangala were held at Dharmasthala in the presence of D Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari of the kshetra and his wife on Monday.
The ritual of padabhisheka to the monolith is held every year.
On Tuesday, padabhisheka will be offered to the monolith using 216 kalashas containing various liquids. A grand 'agrodaka procession' will be taken out from the residence of Veerendra Heggade to Ratnagiri. Lalitakeerti Bhattaraka swamiji of Karkala Jain Mutt will deliver benedictions. Incidentally, Veerendra Heggade and the swamiji were involved in the mahamastakabhisheka to Lord Bahubali at Karkala that was held from January 21 to January 30. This event is held once every 12 years.
