Workshop on ‘Dharma in Jainism’ at Manipal

Manipal Centre for Philosophy and Humanities, a constituent of Manipal University, will organise a workshop on ‘Dharma in Jainism’ here on Monday and Tuesday.

A press release here on Saturday said that this workshop seeks to explore the aspects of Jain philosophy and literature that are related to concerns of ethics and moral understanding from various perspectives such as literature, ethics, philosophy, and everyday practice.

Jayandra Soni, eminent scholar of philosophy and religious studies, Austria, along with the Sundar Sarukkai, Director, MCPH, will inaugurate the workshop to be held in Manipal.

The aim of this workshop is to explicate the various dimensions of dharma in Jain thought, the release said.

The session will commence with a lecture on ‘Karma in Jainism’ by Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of Jain Mutt, Moodabidri.

This two-day workshop will feature papers and discussions by speakers.
