February 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - DHARWAD:

A man was murdered by a group of people at the busy Ravivar Peth area here on Sunday.

The police gave the name of the deceased as Malikjan Abdulsattar Kittur alias Jiddi Mallik (28), a rowdy-sheeter.

Mallik was attacked with knife and dagger by four youths who arrived from the Mangalwar Pet Road, when he was having tea at a roadside shop in Bhuspet area around 7 p.m. They fled the scene immediately.

Mallik died before he could be shifted to hospital, the police said.

Mallik was a resident of Ganachar Galli near Charantimath Lane here. The police said he was part of illegal activities.

He was allegedly involved in money laundering too. The police suspected that differences in money matters could be the motive for the murder. A case has been registered at the town police station.
