Sligo Rovers have announced the signing of Estonian international Sander Puri for the 2015 season, subject to international clearance.

The 26-year-old joins Rovers having most recently played for English League Two side York City.

The winger began his career with Estonian club Levadia Tallin before moving to play in Greece and Finland. In 2013 he played in the Scottish Premier League with St. Mirren.

He becomes Owen Heary's ninth new signing. He has 56 caps for Estonia, and has scored three goals. He will wear the number 12 jersey.

Puri is no stranger to Ireland, however, as in 2008 he played for Levadia Talinn against Drogheda United in the Europa League. In 2012, he played against the Republic of Ireland for Estonia.

Manager Owen Heary was impressed with Puri's performance in Saturday's 3-1 friendly win over Shelbourne, and says that he has a lot to offer Rovers.

"He's a good player, I'm delighted to have signed him. He has great ability, he has a good touch, he has pace. I think he can bring a lot to the club.

"He's an international player, and it's great to have him here. He's a very professional lad so hopefully he can bring that level of professionalism to the club", he said.
