Turkey's exports surge 3.9 percent in 2014


(MENAFN) According to the state-run Anadolu news agency, Turkey's exports surged by 3.9 percent last year to reach USD157.715 billion over a year earlier, Xinhua reported.

Meanwhile, the country's imports fell by 3.7 percent to USD242.224 billion in 2014, bringing the country's annual trade deficit down to 15.4 percent to USD84.509 billion.

In 2013, the trade deficit stood at USD99.859 billion. The European Union (EU) topped the list of Turkey's export destinations in 2014, with exports increasing 8.8 percent to USD68.6 billion.

"The ratio of unregistered employment was 52 percent in 2002. Today only 35-36 percent of total employment is informal, unregistered employment," Turkish Finance Minister said.
