Dispur: Union
minister of state for drinking water and sanitation
Ram Kripal Yadav said here on Saturday the Centre is committed to fulfilling Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of providing pure drinking water and sanitation to every household and that the state government will be given all possible support to achieve this goal.
Yadav, while reviewing the water and sanitation schemes of the state at a meeting held on the campus of Water and Sanitation Support Organisation (WSSO) at Betkuchi here, urged the state government to give priority to providing pure drinking water and sanitation facilities to schools, the economically-backward, SC, ST groups and minorities.
Yadav said, “If we achieve the goal, we will be able to eradicate 70% diseases”. The
Union minister also said the state government should work with the Centre to make a real Swachh Bharat by 2019.
Earlier in the day, Yadav launched a monitoring and evaluation tool, developed under the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project for Low Income States (RWSSP-LIS) in partnership with the ministry of drinking water and sanitation (MoDWS). The
World Bank has supported the
MoDWS and the
National Informatics Centre in developing the software that is designed to improve accountability.
