Hamas slams assault on UN office in Gaza

Gaza, (Alresalah.ps)-- The Hamas Movement condemned Thursday the assault on
a UNESCO's office in Gaza as “unacceptable”.

Earlier Wednesday, dozens of angry Palestinians in Gaza stormed the UNESCO's
office in Gaza City in protest against the UNRWA's decision to suspend
financial aid for the reconstruction of homes.

The angry protesters set fire to tires outside the UNESCO's office before
storming it and smashing its windows.

Senior Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk said the Palestinian security
apparatuses in Gaza would put an end to such violations, stressing the
importance of providing protection and security for UN personnel.

For his part, UN coordinator for the Middle East peace process Robert Serry
threatened to reconsider UN humanitarian operations in Gaza in light of the
incident.

Serry held Hamas fully responsible for the security and safety of all UN
personnel and operations in Gaza.

Gaza,(Alresalah.ps)—Hamas prominent leader Salah Bardawil stated Wednesday
that the UN resolutions by Robert Serry to halt aid provided for the
victims of the Israeli aggression on Gaza had led to the popular anger the
world witnessed Wednesday .

Bardawil said that claims of Robert Serry that Hamas holds responsible for
the angry reaction of the refugees towards the United Nations staff are
just " an attempt to jump over the reality ", pointing out that the masses
wanted to tell Serry they reject the United Nations to be part of the siege
imposed on the Gaza people .

" It would have been better for Mr. Serry to consider the serious
repercussions of the UN decisions over reconstruction and adis for the
victims of the latest Israeli aggression on Gaza, rather that distribution
of accusations ." Bardawil added.

Bardawil denounced any form of violence or infringement of the
international institutions, adding that Serry has to think a lot about the
decisions made by the United Nations."

Robert Serry announced Wednesday that the UN will revise its operations in
Gaza in response to the angry demonstrations that tried to storm the UN
headquarters in the Gaza Strip, holding Hamas responsible for the security
of the UN staff.
