SpiceJet suspends operations from Indore for two months
INDORE: SpiceJet airlines suspended its operation from Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, Indore for the next two months from February 1.
According to the Indore airport director, Manoj Chansoria, “I received a call from the airlines that its operations are being suspended from Sunday for two months owing to some operational reasons.” However, he said that there was no information about the airlines winding up its services from Indore.

SpiceJet airlines has been operating from Indore since 2011 for Delhi and Hyderabad. The airlines had morning and evening flights for Delhi but since November 26, 2014 the morning flight was withdrawn. However, airport sources said that the main reason for the airlines to suspend its operation is because low passenger traffic. “The airlines was able to get only 60-70% occupancy as against their target of 80-95% occupancy,” added the source.
On the other hand the spokesperson from SpiceJet, Sidhartha Kumar told TOI over phone, “SpiceJet is going to bring some changes, therefore from February 1 we are suspending flights from Indore.” He added that the airlines is trying to work out solutions to provide better services. “Better timings to suit passengers, better connectivity between non-metros and metros, better one-day return option and we will be also to focus on increasing the flight frequencies,” he said adding, “These changes would have some impact, as at some stations we will be increasing the number of flights while we might curtail our operation at some non-metro airports.” When asked about Indore, he said he wasn't sure whether the flights would operate from Indore or not.
About the passengers who have already booked their tickets, the spokesperson said that the cash for ticket would be refunded. “Though the summer schedule has not yet been decided, it is difficult to say when will the operation from Indore would start, but we will try our best to facilitate passenger soon when we are done with the changes,” said Kumar.
