(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Police teams raided eight places in Hyderabad and found the children working in hazardous units and living in unhygienic and pathetic conditions.

Hyderabad: In less than a week after Hyderabad Police rescued over 200 children employed in hazardous jobs the cops again conducted raids in the Old City area on Thursday evening and rescued another 120 children employed in bangle manufacturing units. Most of the rescued children were from Bihar and Jharkhand.

Following the fresh raids police also arrested eight agents who were involved in bringing the children from the north Indian states after paying paltry amounts to their parents.

The children in a virtual bonded labour situation were employed in bangle manufacturing units at Chandrayangutta Kanchanbagh Falaknuma and Indiranagar in the Old City police said. V Satyanarayana Deputy Commissioner of Police South Zone who supervised the raids said they had also established a nexus between illegal financiers from Hyderabad and agents of child labour.

“These illegal financiers who have funded the units would also be arrested soon” he said adding that cases would also be booked against bangle traders in Begum Bazaar and Lad Bazaar who buy the bangles from manufacturing units.

Following tip-off police teams raided eight places in Hyderabad and found the children working in hazardous units and living in unhygienic and pathetic conditions the top police official said adding that the kids were brought from various districts of Bihar and Jharkhand.

“They were crammed into rooms and never allowed to go out” Satyanarayana said.
