NASHIK: City-based industrial bodies have welcomed the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation’s (MIDC) decision to reduce the development charges on plots in its industrial estates in the district by 50%.
Ravi Verma, president of Nashik Industries & Manufacturers’ Association (NIMA), told TOI, “This is really a positive decision taken by the MIDC. It will definitely help the new industries set up their base in the district.
It will also boost the existing companies having expansion plans. Moreover, there are many sick or closed industries in industrial estates of the MIDC. The move will help them revive or replaced by new industries.”
Vivek Patil, president of Ambad Industries and manufacturers’ Association (AIMA), said, “The decision is favourable for the new industries. Capital investment is a major factor for the industrialists while opening a new unit. At this juncture, such relief by the MIDC will help them a lot. However, there is a need to relax norms and business policy to facilitate the industrialists to open and run their plants. As compared to other countries, we know how complicated it is for the industrialists to do business here.”
Suresh Mali, former president of AIMA, said, “Satpur and Ambad industrial estates of the MIDC are fully occupied. There is no scope for the existing industries for expansion. The new industries can’t set up their base here due to scarcity of land. But the new industrial estate coming up at Talegaon-Akrale village in Dindori tehsil of the district will fuel industrial growth of the city. Moreover, the MIDC is also in the process of acquiring land at some locations in the district. The industries coming up in the new additional industrial estate and other places in the district will get relief due to drop in development charges.”
The revision comes after the MIDC’s decision to halve the development charges from the existing 2% of the total market valuation to 1%.
