Hackathon in Coimbatore on Jan. 31 and February 1

TiE Coimbatore and Kovai TechStart will organise a hackathon here on January 31 and February 1 and over 500 students, designers, programmers, business developers and ideators are expected to participate.

According to a press release from TiE, the theme for the event is civic issues faced by Coimbatore and exploring solutions that are possible with technology in the areas of Internet of Things, Mobile and Data Analytics within 30 hours.

Venue

The event will be held at Dr. GRD College of Science.

The event aims at encouraging learning and innovating with new technology and showcasing the achievers.

About 10 per cent of the Indian IT workforce is from the region and yet, Coimbatore contributes just 0.5 per cent of Indian IT and ITES revenue, according to the release.

TiE Coimbatore and Kovai TechStart aim to encourage production creation and innovative service companies here.

Institutions

With the presence of large number of educational institutions, the scope for start-up companies is high here.
