TN Congress chief says good riddance

Elangovan said people who leave the party at a crucial stage expose themselves

E V K S Elangovan, president of the Tamil Nadu unit of Congress, Friday said Jayanthi Natarajan’s decision to quit the party would actually “clean” it and said the party would grow stronger if “another person and his family too” decide to leave, in an apparent reference to P Chidambaram and son Karti.

Talking to The Indian Express, Elangovan said people who leave the party at a crucial stage expose themselves. “When such people leave the party, we becomes cleaner. When two more people leave, we will become more stronger,” he said. When asked whether is he referring to Chidambaram and his son, who declined to reply to Elangovan’s showcause notice for criticising the party and praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi last day, the TN Congress chief said he does not want to name anyone.
