It's a first for Disney: a Latina princess.
Princess Elena of Avalor, a 16-year-old who lives in a fairy-tale kingdom inspired by Latin cultures and folklore, will be introduced in a special episode of Disney Junior's series "Sofia the First" in 2016.
And then she'll get her own show.

"Elena of Avalor," a Disney Television Animation Production, will target children ages 2-7 and their families.
Princess Elena, a confident and compassionate princess, will have some magical friends by her side - Mateo, a wizard-in-training, and Skylar, a magical flying creature - as she rules Avalor with help from her Grandfather Tito, Grandmother Cici and royal adviser Duke Esteban.
This is Disney's first Latina princess, said Patti McTeague, senior vice president for kids communications at Disney.
