Rucha Hasabnis tied the knot on Republic Day

Rucha Hasabnis, aka Rashi from the show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, tied the knot with her long-time beau Rahul Jagdale in a traditional Maharashtrian wedding on Republic Day.

Rucha Hasabnis, aka Rashi from the show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, tied the knot with her long-time beau Rahul Jagdale in a traditional Maharashtrian wedding on Republic Day.
Admitting that it was a conscious decision by the couple to marry on a national holiday. She says, “My husband Rahul and I are extremely patriotic at heart, so even when our families suggested other dates for the marriage, we chose January 26.
In fact, my husband even kept a small Indian flag on his Jodhpuri wedding suit.”

Rucha’s wedding preparations lasted for four days — it took off with a puja, followed by the sangeet, and the wedding and reception. She says, “We played Marathi music with interesting musical instruments — jugalbandi of jal tarang, sitar, flute and mandolin on the wedding day. There was a lezim dance performance and live shehnai too.”

Recalling her best moments at the wedding, Rucha admits that she really enjoyed every bit of the ceremonies, done in the traditional Indian style. She says, “A lot of people tell me that when they get married they are so nervous, that they don’t realise when the whole ceremony got over. But I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the wedding ceremony — from the puja, where the pujari explained the meaning of each and every vow and the pheras, and each ritual in the ceremony. It was a learning experience.”
