Opportunists keep off my new team, blogs Anna

In a post published on his blog, Hazare said that there was a need to resurrect the anti-corruption movement.

In an apparent dig at his former colleagues Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi who are fighting a political battle against each other in Delhi, anti-graft activist Anna Hazare said on Friday that he was forging a new team to revive the movement against corruption, but asked “opportunists” to stay away from his new formulation.

In a post published on his blog http://annahazarethinks. blogspot.in on Friday evening, Hazare said that as the Centre was reluctant in taking steps to curb corruption, there was a need to resurrect the anti-corruption movement. He said that he would meeting like-minded people and would formulate a new team to take the movement ahead.

The 77-year-old veteran activist, however, did not spare the opportunity to take a dig at his former colleagues Kerjiwal and Bedi, who once were part of the “apolitical” movement.

“Preparations are on and soon we will constitute a new team to take on the andolan ahead. We will see to it that only dedicated selfless people join us and not the opportunists,” wrote Hazare.

Hazare criticised the Narendra Modi government on taking a ‘U turn’ on the issue of corruption. He also said that while it gave a promise of ushering in ‘achhe din’, its policies are such that it has brought ‘dure din’ for farmers and labourers.

Festive offer

“The new government has time and again promised the people of the country to bring in ‘achhe din’, however; barring a few capitalists, no one else are experiencing it. On one hand the statements provoking communalism are coming up frequently, while on the other labour laws are being changed against the interests of hard working labourers who are staring at ‘dure din’. The farmer’s organisations across the country are meeting me and insisting to initiate agitation against the new ordinance in the Land Acquisition Act 2013 which is brought hastily to uproot the farmers. The new government is bypassing Parliament to bring a new ‘Ordinance Raj’ which is not acceptable and Hon’ble President of India also recently has expressed his concerns towards it,” he said.

Anna wondered that before Lok Sabha elections, BJP leaders showed themselves as staunch supporters of Lokpal, but the BJP has gone silent on Lokpal appointment now.
