Hazare criticised the Narendra Modi government on taking a ‘U turn’ on the issue of corruption. He also said that while it gave a promise of ushering in ‘achhe din’, its policies are such that it has brought ‘dure din’ for farmers and labourers.

“The new government has time and again promised the people of the country to bring in ‘achhe din’, however; barring a few capitalists, no one else are experiencing it. On one hand the statements provoking communalism are coming up frequently, while on the other labour laws are being changed against the interests of hard working labourers who are staring at ‘dure din’. The farmer’s organisations across the country are meeting me and insisting to initiate agitation against the new ordinance in the Land Acquisition Act 2013 which is brought hastily to uproot the farmers. The new government is bypassing Parliament to bring a new ‘Ordinance Raj’ which is not acceptable and Hon’ble President of India also recently has expressed his concerns towards it,” he said.

Anna wondered that before Lok Sabha elections, BJP leaders showed themselves as staunch supporters of Lokpal, but the BJP has gone silent on Lokpal appointment now.
