World champions Mercedes gave its 2015 car a filming run at Silverstone Thursday before snow and ice brought an early end to the action for shivering drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

"The F1 W06 Hybrid.first departed the garage at 13:13 this afternoon in icy conditions at the Northamptonshire circuit," said a team statement.

"Driven first by Nico Rosberg, then Lewis Hamilton, the car completed a total of 18 laps (47.2 km) before a blizzard brought filming to a halt."

Rosberg, who was runner-up to Hamilton last season, tweeted: "Crazy weather today at @SilverstoneUK. Sun, snow, sun. Jerez should be a bit better."

Mercedes will now join their rivals at Jerez in Spain from Sunday where they will officially launch their 2015 car as well as take part in a four-day test.
