ZIMPAPERS assistant librarian Shepherd Taurai Tashaya has died.
He was 46.Tashaya passed on at St Anne’s Hospital yesterday morning after a short illness.

He joined Zimpapers, which publishes The Herald, as an office orderly in October 1990 before being promoted to assistant librarian in 1992.

Herald Chief Librarian Gibson Mapfumo said they had lost an efficient and dependable employee who strived to get things done.

“We had developed a good relationship with him and to us he was no longer a co-worker as we had become one family,” he said.

“He was a brother to me and everyone in The Herald editorial library.”

A sombre atmosphere engulfed the Herald Editorial Library and other departments as workmates mourned Tashaya who had a good relationship with everyone he served in the library.

Family representative and Tashaya’s brother Reverend Rodwel Tashaya said the family has lost “a humble brother, good friend and an advisor” who was always cheerful.

“We are at a loss for words, but we take comfort in knowing that he has been promoted to higher glory,” he said.

“The gap he left can never be filled. I can only say go well Shapiro.”

Mourners are gathered at house number 20210 Nhowe Phase 3 in Norton.

A church service will be held at Fidelity Funeral Parlour today at 9am and his body will be taken to Norton before leaving for his rural home in Mhondoro for burial at Mangwiro Village tomorrow at 11am.
