The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) State secretary P. Madhu inaugurated a pylon of the party’s 24{+t}{+h}State meeting scheduled to be held in the city on February 8 and 9, at Lenin Centre here on Thursday.

On the occasion, Mr. Madhu said that the two-day meeting would chalk out action plans for future agitations. The meeting would also discuss about comprehensive development of the State and strategies required for it.

“There are problems galore in the new Capital region, including Vijayawada city. There are neither proper roads nor drainage. The housing and traffic management are the biggest challenges. The government, however, hasn’t paid any attention ,” he said.

Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, while his party was in opposition, had claimed that the UPA had agreed to accord special status to AP due their fight in Parliament. But, soon after assuming office, the BJP leaders forgot their promises and were asserting that according special status was not possible.
